Evan Beck and Andres "Andy" Schonbaum are tied for the lead at the 2024 George L. Coleman Invitational at the iconic Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla. Beck and Schonbaum are both 5-under and lead Brad Nurski and Stephen Behr by one shot. Nurski and Behr are 4-under and T2 with 18 holes remaining.

Beck has shot rounds of 68-71 to get to 5-under, while Schonbaum has shot rounds of 70-69.

Beck put together an impressive 2023 campaign, winning medalist honors at the Crump Cup, finishing T4, and recording a runner-up finish at the 2023 U.S. Mid-Amateur to Stewart Hagestad. Hagestad also won the Crump Cup.

He has also finished in solo second place at this invitational in 2022 and 2023, so he will be looking to get over the hump in the final round this year.

Schonbaum also finished solo second place at the Coleman Invitational in 2019 and won the 2022 Argentine Amateur

Beck is currently ranked No. 6 in the AmateurGolf.com Mid-Amateur Rankings.

Andrew Bailey, the 2023 Ohio State Amateur champion, is in solo fifth place at 3-under, and Matthew McClean and Bobby Wyatt are T6 at 2-under. McClean is ranked No. 1 in the AmateurGolf.com Mid-Amateur Rankings and won the 2022 U.S. Mid-Amateur.

In the Senior Division, the 2023 U.S. Walker Cup captain, Mike McCoy, leads by two shots at 6-under. McCoy has shot consistent rounds of 3-under 69 to get to 6-under heading into the final round.

R.J. Nakashian is in solo second place at 4-under, Gene Elliot is 2-under and in solo third place, and Doug Hanzel and Bryan Norton are T4 at 1-under.

McCoy is currently ranked No. 8 in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings

Seminole Golf Club is considered by some to be the best course ever designed by Donald Ross and is certainly one of the very best courses in the entire Southeast U.S. The genius of the course is in the routing, which brilliantly utilizes a pair of dune ridges that sit beside the Atlantic Ocean, and in the greens, which are subtly contoured and very fast. This, combined with the ever-present wind, allows Seminole to hold up well against the best amateur players at the Coleman Invitational.

ABOUT THE Coleman Invitational

One of the very best amateur events all year long played on the last great private course designed by Donald Ross. The course, not long by today's standards, lies hard by the Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic winds and very fast greens give this course teeth. Ben Hogan once said 'If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.'

The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play invitational that draws an elite field of mid- amateurs and seniors.
