Harry Watkins, representing the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in Wales, clinched victory at the Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship held at Tenby Golf Club, the oldest links golf course in Wales. He secured a one-shot win with an impressive score of 14-under 274, following his rounds of 65-69-67-73.

Watkins, a former senior at Lincoln Memorial University, maintained a commanding five-shot lead as he entered the final round with a score of 15-under 201. Despite struggling throughout the round, he finished with a 1-over 73.

Meanwhile, Tomi Bowen shot a blazing final round of 65. Bowen, hailing from Welshpool, carded rounds of 72-68-70-65, securing the runner-up position just one shot behind at 13-under par.

Last year, Watkins secured the 45th position at the Welsh Men’s Amateur Championship and the 21st spot at the Scottish Men’s Open Championship.

The tournament, which started in 1967, marked the sixth edition hosted by Tenby Golf Club. A total of 110 golfers participated, with 71 successfully making it through the halfway cut.
