He recorded victories in the 2020-21 Brewer Cup, and the 2022 Frank H. Chapman Memorial Cup put him halfway home in the GAP Senior Slam (Francis B. Warner Cup, Chapman Cup, Brewer Cup, and Senior Amateur).

Monday at Laurel Creek Country Club, Frazier added his third leg to his trophy room. Frazier’s 3-under-par 68 earned him victory in the 90th edition of the Warner Cup.

Ken Phillips, of Lancaster Country Club and current GAP President, carded a round of 2-under 69 for a solo second finish.

Frazier is ranked No. 87 in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings.

“This golf course was a blast,” Frazier, of Carlisle Country Club, said. “It was my first time here at Laurel Creek but the course set up well for me. I was just hitting low bullets out there. The ball was running like crazy once it hit the fairway. It was funny. When I hit anything less than the driver, the ball didn’t run out. Then I decided I am just hitting the driver unless the hole tells me I can’t.”

Frazier’s driver is a weapon. A strong, well-controlled chest-high ball that reminds you more of a line drive in baseball than a modern-era golf drive.

It’s an interesting comparison until you learn Frazier played Division III baseball at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. That was after he went to Penn State University for football to start his college career before transferring.

It was Frazier’s ball striking that made his round stress-free. He hit 17 of 18 greens. 

Frazier wasted no time getting into red figures with a birdie on No. 1. He eased a 50-degree wedge from 100 yards to tap-in range. 

A beautiful pitching wedge from 125 yards to six feet on No. 6. got him to 2 under. He would two-putt for birdie on No. 9 after spearing a 6-iron from 178 to 25 feet. He would match his 34 on the front with a 34 on the back. He added birdies on Nos. 13 and 16.

His only blemishes were 3-putt bogeys on Nos. 8 and 17.

“I am a competitive guy,” Frazier said. “I assess and focus on my shot and not the result. The one time I didn’t focus on the shot, I missed a two-footer on No. 17. I have learned to move past outcome-based thinking in golf.”

Frazier’s strong play in the last four years was highlighted by a trip to the semifinals of the U.S. Senior Amateur at The Kittansett Club in Marion, Mass., in 2022. 

Frazier earned GAP’s Senior Player of the Year that year as well. He took the Senior Silver Cross for the first time last year.

“I want more national success and to win more,” Frazier said. “I want to win each time I tee it up. It is hard because I am not playing as much as I was when I worked remotely. Last year, I played a ton of national and international events. I was traveling all over the globe but I wasn’t practicing. I am going to still play in a lot of those tournaments this year, but will dial my schedule back a little bit.”

Frazier will get his first crack at the GAP Senior Slam at Rolling Green Golf Club Sept. 3-4 in the 54th Senior Amateur. 

“It’s awesome,” Frazier, who works for Fiserv, said. “GAP has been great. Once they expanded to service the Harrisburg area, it opened a lot of opportunities for me. I work in Wilmington, Del. and have a second home there, so I don’t have to travel as far as I would if I was coming from Carlisle to play in events. I don’t play as much when I am in Delaware but an hour drive is better than two hours. I am trying to get more guys from Carlisle to play in GAP events.”

Francis B. Warner of Philadelphia Cricket Club served as GAP secretary-treasurer for 18 years. After his death in 1933, the Association started the Francis B. Warner Cup as an ongoing tribute in his memory. It is the first Senior Major of the GAP tournament season.

To meet the needs of its members, GAP, in 2022, separated a Super-Senior Division from its traditional Warner Cup counterpart. The Warner Cup – Super Senior, set for May 29 at Bellewood Country Club, will feature two divisions: 65 years of age or older (Super Senior) and 70 years of age or older (Legends). It will be limited to 78 individuals.
