Benjamin Berger takes home the Missouri Stroke Play title

Benjamin Berger shot 7-under to win the 27th annual Stroke Play Championship at Glen Echo Country Club.

The second round of 18-hole stroke play was completed on Wednesday morning. After making the cut in the afternoon, the championship round of 18-hole stroke play began with a total of 47 players making the cut at 6-over.

Berger, a rising sophomore at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, emerged victorious with a total gross score of 7-under and rounds of 68-68-70 over the three rounds. Berger demonstrated remarkable skill, carding nine birdies and three eagles, two of which occurred during the first round.

Berger had previously competed in the 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship earlier this season, where he shot 5-over and advanced to the round of 64 after a playoff.

Easton Johnson finished as the runner-up with a total gross score of 6-under with rounds of 66-70-71. Johnson, a rising junior at the University of Louisville and the 2023 Golf Coaches Association of America Jack Nicklaus Award winner, showcased his talent with 13 birdies over the three rounds and only one bogey during his first round.

Johnson also won the 2023 NAIA Men’s Golf Individual Championship.

Tyler Peasel secured third place with rounds of 68-68-72 to finish 5-under. Peasel, who competed in the 2024 Missouri Amateur Championship, impressed with 15 birdies over the three rounds.

ABOUT THE Missouri Stroke Play Championship

72-hole stroke play championship, with a cut to the low 50 and ties after the second round. Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are members of the MGA and play at clubs who are members of the Missouri Golf Association.
