Tiger Tahvildari wins Costa Mesa City Championship by two shots

Tiger Tahvildari won the 51st Costa Mesa City Championship from August at Costa Mesa Country Club, also known as the Will Jordan Classic.

Tahvildari, who is heading to Long Beach State in the fall, shot rounds of 65-68 to get to 9-under and win by two shots

In the first round, Tahvildari shot 5-under 65 on the Mesa Linda Course to finish the day T2, along with Ben Crinella. On the second day, Tahvildari shot a 4-under 68 on Los Lagos to rally for the title.

Mesa Linda played to a par 70, and Los Lagos played to a par 72.

Ryan Curlee was the first-round leader at 6-under and one shot ahead of Tahvildari and Crinella.

Crinella finished in solo second place at 7-under, while Eli Geddy and Austin Trcka finished T3 at 6-under. 2023 champion Ty Macias, Calder Overfelt, and Dustin Vasquez finished T5 at 5-under.

Tahvildari was the Orange Empire Conference Player of the Year at OCC in 2024, prior to winning the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional Championship.

Past champions include Mark O'Meara (1979) and Brian Lindley (1980). Lindley, who lost in the final of the US Amateur to Nathaniel Crosby in 1981, holds the course record at the Los Lagos Course at 59. 

This tournament is one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur golf championships in Southern California.

This 36-hole stroke play tournament is played at The Costa Mesa Country Club.

Past champions include Mark O'Meara (1979) and Brian Lindley (1980). Lindley, who in 1981 lost in the final of the US Amateur to Nathaniel Crosby, holds the course record at the Los Lagos Course, at 59. Mark O'Meara's record speaks for itself.

Open and Senior (ages 50+) flighted divisions. All players must be 18 years of age or older. Maximum Index is 16.9. Field limited to 320 players.
