Hunter Thomson secured a commanding wire-to-wire victory at the inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational, held at the Oviinbyrd Golf Club. He finished 14-under par with a total of 202. This win marks Thomson's second career title, following his triumph at the 2024 Palmas del Mar Collegiate earlier this year.
The University of Michigan senior from Calgary, Canada, led from start to finish, with consecutive rounds of 66 and a final round of 70, ultimately securing a comfortable two-shot win.
Thomson's consistent play throughout the tournament not only earned him the top spot but also an exemption from Golf Canada to compete in the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, set to be held at the TPC of Toronto from June 3-5.
The Canadian Collegiate Invitational, the first NCAA Division I men's golf tournament held in Canada, saw Thomson's exceptional play contribute to Michigan's team performance. The team finished in second place with a 12-under 852.
Kent State University’s Isaiah Ibit finished as the runner-up with a 12-under par total, carding rounds of 67-69-68. Meanwhile, Thomson’s Michigan teammates also made notable contributions: freshman RJ Arone set a new career low with a 2-under 214 to finish T14, freshman Dean Muratore shot even-par 216 for a T21 finish, and redshirt freshman Caden Pinckes matched Muratore with a 216 and rounds of 71-73-72 to also finish T21.
In the team competition, Notre Dame emerged victorious with a 17-under par total, clinching a five-shot win over Missouri and Michigan, who finished tied for second at 12-under.
