Oklahoma, David Ford of UNC continue hot start to season at Ben Hogan Collegiate

For the second week in a row, the Oklahoma Sooners have come out on top of one of the top fields in men's collegiate golf
The Sooners shot 10-under to defeat Texas by four shots at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Tex. Texas finished in solo second place at 6-under. Auburn finished in solo third place.
Oklahoma carded rounds of 276-275-279 to get to 10-under and secure the wire-to-wire win. They were the only team to shoot an under-par final round at the same course that hosts the PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge.
Eleven of the top 25 teams in the country teed it up in Fort Worth this week.
North Carolina finished in solo fourth place at 1-over, Arizona State finished in solo fifth place at 11-over, and Vanderbilt finished in solo sixth place at 20-over.
In the individual competition, David Ford of North Carolina carded rounds of 69-65-67 to finish 9-under and win by three shots.
Ford is ranked No. 6 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings and has already recorded two top-ten finishes this season, finishing T8 at the Sahalee Player's Championship and T6 at the Fighting Illini Invite.
According to North Carolina Athletics, the win was Ford's third as a Tar Heel, joining the Stephens Cup at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla., and the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C. He won the Stephens Cup as a sophomore and the Williams Cup last season.
He is a three-time All-ACC and All-America honoree and a member of the 2023 U.S. Walker Cup team.
Brendan Valdes of Auburn finished in solo second place at 6-under. With this top-ten finish, Valdes moves into first place all-time at Auburn with 19 top-ten finishes.
Daniel Bennett of Texas, Drew Goodman of Oklahoma, and Billy Davis of Auburn finished T3 at 5-under to round out the top five.
