A LITTLE HISTORY

Originating over 50 years ago as the “Oak Hill Scratch Best-Ball Tournament” and played over the historic East Course from championship tees, the tournament’s four-ball format has consistently attracted top Mid-Am and Senior players.

In 1961 the tournament was renamed for a distinguished past member of Oak Hill, Dr. John R. Williams. “The Williams” is a fitting tribute to the trees that made Oak Hill world famous. It was by his hand that many of Oak Hill’s trees were planted. Former winners include Andy North, 1978 and 1985 U.S. Open Champion; Dick Siderowf, British Amateur Champion; Don Allen, two-time Walker Cup player, and Danny Green, 1999 U.S. Mid-Amateur Champion
