Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate: Campbell’s Mira Berglund wins individual title

Mira Berglund, a sophomore at Campbell University, delivered a breakout performance at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate in Knoxville, TN, winning her first-ever collegiate title in style. She posted a 6-under par score across three rounds (72-66-69), but it was her near-flawless closing stretch that stole the spotlight.
Over her final 40 holes, Berglund made just one bogey, and birdied two of the last three holes, sealing her win with a cool head and a red-hot game.
Her 66 on Monday was the lowest of her collegiate career—a personal-best that catapulted her into contention. Berglund, from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, wasn’t just playing for herself but leading a Campbell squad that fought for every stroke.
Sophomore Alicia Olsson, her Swedish teammate, finished runner-up at 3-under par, playing her last 27 holes at an impressive 7-under. Together, they were two of only three players in the field to finish under par.
The team competition saw Campbell finishing joint second with Tennessee at 15-over par, just five shots behind Miami, which captured the title. Berglund’s performance helped secure Campbell’s fourth top-two finish in five events this fall.
It’s been a season of milestones for the Camels, and Berglund’s victory was a fitting capstone. With three top-10 finishes under her belt this fall, and a game seemingly growing stronger by the round, Berglund’s breakout signals that even bigger moments may be on the horizon.
