After a round of 2-under 70,
Haymes Snedeker of Daphne, Ala., the older brother of nine-time PGA Tour winner Brandt Snedeker, leads the 2024 Dixie Senior and Mid-Master Invitational at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.
Snedeker was the lone golfer under par in the Mid-Master Division, recording four birdies and two bogeys. Snedeker birdied three of the four par-5's at Eagle Trace.
Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery, Ala., and John Bernatovicz of Akron, Ohio, are T2 at even-par, and Joshua Rhodes of Padcuah, Ky., and Andy Roberts of Owensboro, Ky., are T4 at 1-over.

Snedeker was an all-conference player his senior year at Ole Miss in 1999 and a four-time academic All-American. The elder Snedeker remained amateur and instead went to law school. At age 32, he became one of the nation’s youngest municipal court judges.
In his golfing career, he has teed it up in a few USGA championships, reaching the Round of 16 at the 2002 U.S. Amateur Public Links, the year before Brandt won, and that same year qualifying for both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Mid-Amateur.
In the Senior Division, Chad Ibbotson of Sanford, Fla., shot an impressive 4-under 68 with six birdies and two bogeys. He birdied three of his first six holes to get off to a hot start.
John Wright of Fairhope, Ala., is in solo second place at 3-under, and Phil Josephson of Miami, Fla., is in solo third place at 2-under. Walker Taylor of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., is in solo fourth place at 1-under, and 2023 champion Rick Stimmel of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Tony Hejna of Juno Beach, Fla., are T5 at even par.
In the Super Senior Division, James Starnes of Fort Meyers, Fla., leads the way after a first-round 3-under 69. Starnes leads Gregory Goode of Salina, Kan., by one shot, as Goode is in solo second place at 2-under.
Starnes is currently ranked No. 6 in the AmateurGolf.com Super Senior Rankings, while Goode is ranked No. 5.
