Alejandro de Castro of Catalan, Spain, delivered a stellar performance to claim victory at the La Hacienda Links Golf Resort in Cadiz, Spain. De Castro shot a 7-under 281 over four rounds (71-77-68-65), finishing two strokes clear of the field. His blistering final round of 65 sealed the win in a competitive field of amateurs.
De Castro, a junior at Long Beach State, is currently ranked 263rd on the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings. His recent success builds on an impressive 2024 season, during which he played in 13 ranked events, secured two wins—Campeonato de España Match Play - Copa Nacional Puerta de Hierro and Campionat del Montanya—and recorded four additional top-10 finishes.
Notably, he finished T4 at the William H. Tucker Invitational, his best showing of the season for Long Beach State.
Jose Manuel posted a remarkable final-round 64 to finish at 5-under, securing a joint runner-up spot. Kevin Jegers, representing Middle Tennessee State and hailing from Estonia, matched Manuel’s 5-under score with rounds of 70-72-73-68.
Jegers, who made history in 2022 as the first golfer from Estonia to win a collegiate event in the USA, continued his strong form with this runner-up finish.
Defending champion Alvaro Pastor struggled to find his rhythm this time. Pastor carded rounds of 75-79-69-70 for a T22 finish at 5-over, well off the pace he set in his previous victory.
The event featured a field of 84 amateur players, with 54 advancing to the final round.
