Meja Ortengren led the Cardinal to a sweep of the 2025 San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Ortengren finished 15-under with rounds of 68-62-71 to secure the dominant eight-shot win.
The eight-shot win is one stroke more than Zhang’s all-time best margin of victory with the Cardinal, who accomplished the feat of a seven-shot win twice in her illustrious career.
With the victory, Ortengren becomes the first Stanford freshman to win a tournament since Rose Zhang won four times during her freshman season en route to becoming the NCAA individual champion. Ortengren is also the third different Cardinal to win during the 2024-25 season, joining Paula Martin Sampedro and Megha Ganne.
Paula Martin Sampredro of Stanford finished in solo second place at 7-under, and Toa Yokoyama of UNLV finished in solo third place at 6-under. Kelly Xu of Stanford and Maria Jose Barragan of BYU finished T4 at 5-under.
Martin Sampedro is currently ranked No. 13 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.
In the team competition, top-ranked Stanford stayed undefeated on the season, winning their fifth tournament of the season at 31-under by an impressive 32 shots. They were the only team to finish under par.
Along with Ortengren, Sampedro, and Xu, Megan Ganne finished T6, and Nora Sundberg finished T10 as an individual.
UNLV finished in solo second place at 1-over, and Georgia finished in solo third place at 12-over.
