Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, secures her fourth AJGA Invitational title with a three-shot victory at the Fortinet Stanford Invitational hosted by Rose Zhang. Talley has dominated her last three Invitational appearances, winning all three with a combined 28-under-par total.
Talley began with a historic 64, tying the tournament's lowest 18-hole score. Ranked No. 1 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, she fired seven birdies and an eagle to take a two-shot lead into round two.
In round two, challenging conditions saw the 16-year-old post a 2-under 69, carding four birdies and two bogeys. Meanwhile, Anna Fang of San Diego, California, surged with a 4-under 67, pulling even with Talley at 9-under heading into the final round.
Fang and Talley traded shots early in the final round. Talley grabbed the lead with a birdie on No. 4, only for Fang to respond with one on No. 6. Both players stuck their approaches inside 10 feet on No. 9, matching birdies to keep the battle tight.
Fang stumbled with bogeys on Nos. 11 and 13, while Talley seized control with a birdie on No. 12. The two parred from No. 14 onward, and Talley sealed the victory with a two-putt par on No. 18.
"I was really excited to play this week, and now I'm looking forward to the next AJGA to see how I do," Talley said.
Fang capped off the week with her best career finish in an AJGA Invitational. The 15-year-old finished at 9-under par, recording 12 birdies and just three bogeys over 54 holes.
Nikki Oh of Torrance, California, finished the week at 5-under par. Currently ranked No. 7 in the AJGA Rolex Rankings, Oh opened with back-to-back rounds of 70 and closed strong, tying Talley for the low final round with a 3-under 68.
Rounding out the top five are Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham, Alabama, and Shauna Liu of Maple, Ontario, Canada, both finishing at 4-under par. Schremmer began the week with an even-par round, then posted back-to-back 69s. Liu opened with a 1-over 72, followed with a 5-under 66 in round two, and finished with an even-par final round.
