Top ranked amateur Luke Clanton gets hot to secure Watersound Invitational

Luke Clanton took some time away from trying to earn his PGA Tour card and win the 2025 Watersound Invitational at Sharks Tooth Golf Club
in Panama City Beach, Fla.
Clanton finished 10-under with rounds of 73-66-67. He started with a first-round 1-over 73 but carded a second-round 6-under 66 to get into contention and then a 5-under 67 to secure the win. 36 holes were played on Tuesday in anticipation of inclement weather on Wednesday.
In the 36 holes on Tuesday, Clanton recorded three eagles. Two in the second round and one in the third round. This is his fifth collegiate win.
Clanton is currently ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

Clanton currently has 19 points in the PGA Tour Accelerated Program. When he earns his 20th point, he will earn his PGA Tour card at the end of the collegiate season. According to Brentley Romine, he will get a chance in two weeks in the Cognizant Classic.
Jonathan Griz of Alabama and Jones Free of Alabama finished T2 at 7-under. Benjamin Reuter of Georgia Tech and Jackson Van Paris of Vanderbilt finished T4 at 6-under to round out the top five.
In the team competition, Florida State won the tournament at 26-under, nine shots better than the field. The Seminoles carded rounds of 278-287-273 to pull away from the field.
Alabama finished in solo second place at 17-under and UCLA finished in solo third place at 13-under.
