Joe Highsmith secured his first PGA Tour win with a full Titleist bag at the 2025 Cognizant Classic, shooting 19-under to win by two shots over the field.
Highsmith got hot on the back nine, birdieing holes No. 10, 11, and 13 and making a 21-foot birdie putt on No. 17 to extend his lead to two shots heading into the final hole.
On Saturday, The Pepperdine alum made 135 feet of putts in the third round and gained nearly three-and-a-half shots on the greens.
According to the PGA Tour, he changed to a newer, custom-painted and stamped Scotty Cameron 009M Tour Prototype putter prior to the WM Phoenix Open and ended the week at the Cognizant Classic ranked seventh in Strokes Gained: Putting, earning almost six shots on the field on the greens. He was No. 1 in the field on Saturday.
Highsmith is the first player to make the cut on the number and go on to win the event since Brandt Snedeker at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open. It’s just the third time it’s been done in the last 15 years.
“That was the last thing I was expecting at the start of the day was a win,” Highsmith told the PGA Tour Sunday.
Highsmith added, “I played probably the best round of my life."
AmateurGolf.com caught up with Highsmith in 2022 when he was a senior at Pepperdine.
