Lorenzo Pinili leads Michigan State to sweep at Spartan/Colleton River Collegiate

Lorenzo Pinili secured his first collegiate win and led the Spartans to the team win at the Spartan/Colleton River Collegiate at Colleton River Plantation in Bluffton, S.C.
Pinili finished 5-under with rounds of 72-68-71 to earn the victory. Pinili made the quarterfinals of the 2023 Michigan Amateur.
Kristian Bressum of East Tennessee State finished in solo second place at 3-under, and Drew Miller of Michigan State, Cole Starnes of Indiana, and Scotty Kennon of Wake Forest finished T3 at 2-under to round out the top five.
In the team competition, Michigan State finished 1-under to run away from the field and win by 11 shots. The Spartans were the only team to finish the tournament under par. The Spartans carded rounds of 289-285-289 to secure the win.
According to Michigan State Athletics, The win was the 15th tournament win for Head Coach Casey Lubahn, breaking the record for most tournament wins in program history at Michigan State.
"It's great to get another tournament win under our belts, and it's an honor for me to break a Michigan State record, but I would not have done so without the work of some of the great golfers and young men who have been part of this program," Lubahn told MSU Athletics after the tournament.
Kansas State finished 10-over and in solo second place, and Wake Forest and Chattanooga finished 13-over and T4. Memphis finished in solo fifth place at 25-over to round out the top five.
