The Field of 16 Competing at “The Q at Myrtle Beach”
The worlds of YouTube golf and the PGA TOUR are becoming closer than ever, thanks in part to the innovations at PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com. After launching “The Q” in 2024, it’s back for another rendition. This year will look a little different, for all the right reasons.

Airing May 5 on YouTube, “The Q at Myrtle Beach”, offers a rare and thrilling opportunity: a spot in the PGA TOUR’s 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, hosted at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

The field includes 16 players each with unique backgrounds and compelling stories. From collegiate standouts to working professionals with scratch-level talent, these competitors will battle it out in a high-stakes, reality-style format. The winner won’t just earn bragging rights—they’ll tee it up against the best in the world under the bright lights of the PGA TOUR.

Myrtle Beach, often dubbed the "Golf Capital of the World," provides a fitting backdrop for such a pivotal moment. This year, the PGA TOUR will be producing the event, with commentary alongside each group. Now we dive into who is playing.

The Aspiring Pros:

  1. Trevor Gutschewski: Hailing from Nebraska, Trevor has signed to play at the University of Florida and is ranked 13th in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. His notable achievements include defeating fellow Q competitor, Tyler Watts, in the championship match on his way to winning the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur.
  2. Tyler Watts: A Huntsville, Alabama native, Tyler is ranked 5th in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. His impressive performances include a third-place finish at the 2024 Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship at TPC Myrtle Beach and a top-5 placement in the previous year's "The Q at Myrtle Beach." Committed to the University of Tennessee, Tyler was the runner-up in the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur.
  3. Joe Hooks: A professional hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Joe played collegiate golf at Wayne State University. He has been striving to make his mark in professional golf, competing on the APGA Tour but has yet to debut on the PGA TOUR. Impressively, Joe completed a 100-hole hike last year, setting a scoring record during the endeavor.
  4. Andrew Swanson: A Clemson University golfer from Bluffton, South Carolina, Andrew is ranked 258th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. His accolades include a second-place finish at the Steelwood Collegiate and receiving the NCAA’s “Elite 90 Award for Men’s Golf” in 2024. Remarkably, he achieved a top-10 finish in his first collegiate tournament.
  5. Nathan Franks: Originating from Roebuck, South Carolina, Nathan plays for the University of South Carolina and holds the 121st spot in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. His 2024 victories at the Puerto Rico Classic and Schenkel Invitational were followed by a setback when he fractured his elbow in a team bus accident. Despite this, he earned an honorable mention as a Golfweek 2024 All-American and reached the top 16 in the 2022 U.S. Amateur.
  6. Drew Sykes: From Littlehampton, England, Drew represents the local school in Coastal Carolina University and is ranked 211th in the European Golf Rankings. In 2024, Drew was named Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week.
  7. Jake Albert: From Blacksburg, Virginia, Jake holds the 27th position in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. His accomplishments include a tie for second at the 2024 Junior PGA Championship and is committed to Auburn University.
  8. Patrick O’Brien: Patrick secured his spot through the Myrtle Beach Professional qualifier by holing a chip on the final hole to win with a 2-under 69 at Thistle Golf Club. An alumnus of Coastal Carolina University, he has worked with the First Tee of the Carolinas.

Influential Content Creators:

  1. Sean Walsh: A Keller, Texas native and Gonzaga University alumnus, Sean is part of the popular YouTube golf group Good Good. He has professional experience on the Korn Ferry Tour and previously caddied in the 2024 "The Q at Myrtle Beach” for Luke Kwon.
  2. Micah Morris: Known for his YouTube channel "Micah Morris Golf," Micah has built a substantial following by showcasing his golfing skills and course vlogs.
  3. Ben Kruper: Known as “The Pause King.” Kruper has been in videos with Grant Horvat, the Bryan Bros, Good Good, Micah Morris, and more. He won the Good Good Desert Open with Ashton Gaulin and started Ben Kruper Golf on YouTube golf about a year ago.
  4. Roger Steele: Most recently known as the in-venue host of TGL ad is part of the Creator Council. Steele is a scratch handicap and started HIPE MEDIA focused on growth of the game, storytelling, and connecting with local communities.
  5. Fat Perez: Transitioning from a career in accounting to becoming a beloved figure in the YouTube golf scene, Fat Perez is known for his relatable content and humor, endearing him to a broad audience.
  6. Peter Finch: Finch began YouTube as a teaching pro on a driving range and was a part of the $100,000 skins game at Solina Golf Club.  He presently has 719,000 subscribers on YouTube. He is a returning competitor in Myrtle Beach, having  played in the 2024 Q at Myrtle Beach, finishing T6 (+1, 73). He had the second-best finish among creators behind George Bryan.
  7. George Bryan IV: As one half of the Bryan Bros Golf duo, George has showcased trick shots and competitive play, blending entertainment with skillful performances. In a gut-wrenching lost, he came in 2nd at the Q at Myrtle Beach in 2024, finishing runner-up in a playoff to Matt Atkins.  Has played in three PGA TOUR events, making one cut. He did end up playing in the 2024 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic on a sponsor exemption.
  8. Kyle Berkshire: Originally from Crofton, Maryland, Kyle played college golf at University of North Texas. He is most known for being  a three-time World Long Drive Champion (2019, 2021, 2023) and owns the world record long drive of 579.6 yards. Has 221,000 subscribers on YouTube.

These 16 competitors bring a diverse mix of professional aspirations and digital influence to "The Q at Myrtle Beach," each vying for the coveted opportunity to compete alongside PGA TOUR professionals in the 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.
