Florida storms to victory at Calusa Cup with historic final round

The Florida Gators erased a five-shot deficit entering the final round to win the 2025 Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Fla.
The Gators finished 17-under and defeated the Louisville Cardinals by one shot after Louisville held a five-shot lead entering the final 18 holes.
With the win, Florida defended its team title in the regular season finale for the third victory this season. The Gators carded rounds of 290-286-271.
According to Florida Athletics, the Gator's final round of 17-under.tied for third all-time in program history by par, and the win marks the third consecutive year Florida has won the final regular season event (2024 Calusa Cup & 2023 Augusta Haskins Award Invite).
The victory was the 30th tournament title under head coach J.C. Deacon in eleven seasons. This is the third straight season of three-plus wins under him and the seventh season of multiple wins, including the last five consecutive.
UCLA finished in solo third place at 1-under, Purdue finished in solo fourth place at 4-over, and Wake Forest finished in solo fifth place at 16-over.
In the individual competition, Two Cardinals lead the way, with Sebastian Moss winning medalist honors at 8-under and Easton Johnson finishing in solo second place at 7-under. Johnson made a furious rally to finish and test Moss, birding three of the final four holes, but Moss birdied No. 18 to hold off his Louisville teammate.
Ian Gilligan of Florida, Jack Turner of Florida, and Cooper Claycomb of Louisville finished T3 at 4-under to round out the top five. Luke Poulter finished in solo sixth place at 3-under.
Gilligan is currently ranked No. 5 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.
