April has been good to Bryan Hoops.

After winning the Golfweek Senior Division National Championship and Golfweek Senior Amateur earlier this month, the Tempe, Ariz., native secured the victory at the Society of Seniors Masters at Indian Wells Golf Resort in Indian Wells, Calif.

This win comes after he became the first to win the Golfweek Senior Division National Championship and the Golfweek Senior Amateur.

Hoops carded rounds of 72-69-69 to finish 6-under and outlast Trae Cassell of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., by one shot. Cassell finished at 5-under and in solo second place.

"Nothing different, just some putts fell," Hoops said about his second and third rounds. "I have been hitting it well for quite some time, and some putts didn't drop the first day."

The golfers dealt with serious heat, with all three days in the 90s and the final round reaching 101.

"I am used to it, being from Arizona," Hoops said. "It didn't bother me."

Hoops added, "With the wind blowing and the greens drying out, anything can happen."

Hoops and Cassell entered the par-3 No. 16 tied at 5-under, and a birdie from Hoops saw him take the lead and make two pars on No. 17 and 18 to win.

Hoops has played in eleven U.S. Mid-Amateurs, four USGA State Teams championships with one silver medal, five U.S. Open Sectionals, and two Final 16 U.S. Mid-Amateurs finishes.

Tony Wise of Georgetown, Ky., shot a final round 4-under 68 to finish 3-under and in solo third place. Kevin Vandenberg of Pulaski, N.Y., finished in solo fourth place at 2-under. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings.

Mike Lohner of Southlake, Tex., and Rick Stimmel of Pittsburgh, Pa., finished T5 at even-par to round out the top five.

In the Super Senior Division, John Pate of Santa Barbara, Calif., finished 2-under as the lone golfer in the division to finish under par and win by four shots. In the Legends Division, Sean Forey, of Morrison, Colo., tied for the low round of the day with a 2-under par 70 to finish tied at 6-over with George Walker, of Fairhope, Ala.

Walker was unavailable for a playoff, and Forey was declared the playoff winner.

In the Super Legends Division, George Dillon of Sun City West, Ariz., finished 2-over to win by one shot over Jack Marin of Durham, N.C., who finished in solo second place at 3-over.
