FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Oregon State standout Raya Nakao etched her name into the record books with a sizzling 6-under 66 in Thursday’s opening round of the 2025 West Coast Conference (WCC) Women’s Golf Championship, tying the course record at Green Valley Country Club.
Nakao’s blistering round not only placed her atop the individual leaderboard, three shots ahead of defending WCC individual champion Jeneath Wong of Pepperdine, but also helped propel Oregon State into a first-place tie with Santa Clara in the team standings. Both squads posted a 2-under 286, giving them a three-shot cushion over Pepperdine, who sits third at 289.
“Raya’s round was nothing short of electric. She controlled her game from tee to green and capitalized on scoring chances,” said Oregon State head coach.
