WRAP-UP REPORTThe 2025 AmateurGolf.com Two Man Links Championship concluded Monday at Sand Valley Resort in Wisconsin, where four days of team golf across some of the most architecturally distinct courses in the country produced unforgettable moments—and well-earned champions.
In the Open Gross division, Worth Blackman and Preston Fleenor of Dallas, TX, claimed the title at 8-under 277, highlighted by a clutch birdie on the 116-yard par-3 8th hole in the final round. Scott Pitts and Tim Lovell of Georgia finished just one stroke back after an impressive week that included a third-round 67 at The Lido.
In the Father & Son Gross, Jacob and Mark Phillips delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance, posting a 14-under total of 271—winning by eight shots. Their final-round 69 was a fitting end to one of the championship’s most consistent campaigns.
Oklahoma’s Bill Roberts and Brad Kropp ran away with the Senior Gross division, opening with a 65 and finishing at 280 for a 13-shot win. Meanwhile, the Net divisions came down to the wire: Jeff Soskin and Scott Malone (-11) took the Open Net title, while Javaid and Moe Ansari (-13) shared top honors in the Father & Son Net with the Phillips team after a strong closing round.
Presented by Callaway Golf and supported by Fujikura, Foresight, and Nexbelt, the Two Man Links Championship Series continues this December at Torrey Pines. Registration for the 2025/2026 series is now open.
FINAL ROUND RECAP
Competition wrapped up Monday on the original Sand Valley course, where firm turf and swirling winds created a dramatic stage for the championship’s final round.
In the Open Gross division, Worth Blackman and Preston Fleenor carded a 2-under 70 to edge out Scott Pitts and Tim Lovell by a single shot. The highlight came at the 116-yard 8th hole—Blackman’s 71st hole of the tournament—where he stuck a wedge to eight feet and drained the birdie putt. Pitts and Lovell closed with a 72 to finish second at 278, followed by Roberts and Kropp at 280 and the Illinois team of Eric and Greg Scandora at 283.
Jacob and Mark Phillips punctuated their win in the Father & Son Gross division with matching 69s at Sand Valley. Their final tally of 271 (-14) was eight shots clear of Connor and Scott Scissons, with the Clapper duo finishing third at 281.
In the Senior Gross, Roberts and Kropp posted a closing 73 to complete a wire-to-wire win at 280 (-5), 13 ahead of Jeff Lane and Robert Stone (293). The pair also finished third in the Open Gross standings—demonstrating their elite form across all age groups.
The Father & Son Net division ended in a tie at 272 (-13) between the Phillips and the California team of Javaid and Moe Ansari, who closed with net 70s to overtake the Czerwinskis. In the Open Net division, Soskin and Malone of Texas and California closed with a net 71 to win by one at 274 over two teams tied at 275: Thieme/Thieme and Palilonis/Meyer.
ROUND THREE COVERAGE
The AmateurGolf.com Two Man Links Championship intensified today at The Lido, Sand Valley's highly acclaimed re-creation of the iconic Long Island course, soon to host the 2026 U.S. Mid-Amateur. After three rounds, competition remained razor-thin, with four of the five categories separated by just a few strokes heading into the final day.
In the Open Gross division, Scott Pitts and Tim Lovell of Gainesville and Clarkesville, GA, surged to the top with an impressive 5-under 67, bringing their total to 7-under and giving them a slim one-shot lead over Worth Blackman and Preston Fleenor of Dallas, TX, and the senior duo of Bill Roberts and Brad Kropp from Oklahoma City and Edmond, OK. Pitts and Lovell, veterans of the Two Man Links Series, earned a previous trip to Ireland through their success at Bandon Dunes in the U.S. Golf Challenge national finals.
In the Father & Son Gross division, Jacob and Mark Phillips of Georgia continued their commanding run, carding a stellar 5-under 67 to reach 11-under overall. Connor and Scott Scissons from Saskatoon, Canada, answered with an equally impressive 66 to stay within six shots. Meanwhile, Bernie and Dominic Czerwinski of Sugar Grove, IL, retained their lead in the Father & Son Net division, though their margin narrowed to just two shots over Javaid and Moe Ansari of California.
Despite a tougher round, Bill Roberts and Brad Kropp still held a 10-shot advantage in the Senior Gross division, thanks to their opening two rounds of 65-69. With the championship concluding at the rugged Sand Valley course, several titles remained very much up for grabs.
ROUND TWO COVERAGE
The AmateurGolf.com Two Man Links Championship continued today at Sand Valley Resort with the second round contested at Mammoth Dunes. Early groups faced rainy conditions that lasted until mid-morning, giving way to cool and windy weather for the remainder of the day. Typically the most scorable of Sand Valley's courses, Mammoth Dunes presented a tougher challenge today, yet several teams managed to climb the leaderboard.
In the Father & Son Gross division, Jacob and Mark Phillips of Georgia maintained their strong play, following yesterday's outstanding round with a steady even-par 72, securing a five-shot lead heading into the third round. Clark and Tyler Hurst from Jacksonville, FL, and Christopher and Darrell Clapper of North Carolina both surged into a tie for second place at 1-under 140, positioning themselves for a weekend push. Meanwhile, Bernie and Dominic Czerwinski from Sugar Grove, IL, moved into the lead in the Father & Son Net division with a strong net 69 today, totaling 10-under 131, five shots clear of the Phillips team.
In the Senior Gross division, Bill Roberts and Brad Kropp from Oklahoma City extended their commanding lead, posting a solid 69 to reach 7-under 134. Jim Nalepa and Michael Fosheim trail by nine shots at 2-over 143. Tomorrow, the tournament moves to The Lido, Sand Valley's impressive re-creation of the historic Long Island course, which will host the 2026 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
ROUND ONE REPORT
The AmateurGolf.com Two Man Links Championship kicked off today at Sand Valley Resort in Wisconsin, as 46 two-person teams competed at the resort's newest course, Sedge Valley. Designed by Tom Doak and represented by a sly red fox logo, Sedge Valley is a stunning par-68 layout inspired by classic English heathland courses, emphasizing strategy over brute strength. Challenging conditions saw winds gusting above 30 mph, yet players found the course both beautiful and enjoyable.
Brad Kropp Brad Kropp of Oklahoma City had a memorable day, carding a superb 3-under 65. Kropp and partner Bill Roberts from Edmond, OK, lead both the Open Gross and Senior Gross divisions.
"The harder the conditions, the better that guy plays," said Kropp's son Will via text from California when he heard about the score. And Will should know -- he has played professional golf worldwide (he once beat Angel Cabrera in is home country!) and now runs the successful junior program at Goat Hill Park in Oceanside.
Just two strokes behind them in the Open Gross division are Arthur Blackman and Preston Fleenor of Dallas, TX, who shot a solid 1-under 67. In third place, Jim Nalepa of Dallas, TX, and Michael Fosheim of Scottsdale, AZ, posted an even-par 68.
In the Open Net division, Adam Palilonis (Rocky Hill, CT) and Max Meyer (Deep River, CT) took an early lead with an impressive net 62. Tied for second at net 65 are Aaron Thieme (King of Prussia, PA) with Kevin Thieme (Summerville, SC), Bill Roberts with Brad Kropp, Dan Lyons (Reno, NV) with Scott DeMers (Carson City, NV), and Jim Nalepa with Michael Fosheim.
The Father & Son Gross category saw Jacob and Mark Phillips from Georgia jump out to a commanding lead after firing a 5-under 63. James and Kyle Schmidt from Illinois hold second place after an even-par 68, while four teams are tied for third place at 69.
Leading the Father & Son Net division are Bernie and Dominic Czerwinski from Sugar Grove, IL, tied with Jacob and Mark Phillips, each team carding net scores of 62. James and Kyle Schmidt are in third place at net 64.
With three rounds still to play—at Mammoth Dunes, The Lido, and Sand Valley—the competition remains wide open. This event is part of the AmateurGolf.com Two Man Links Championship series, presented by Callaway Golf and supported by sponsors Fujikura, Foresight, and Nexbelt. Registration is now open for the 2025/2026 Two Man Links Series, starting at Torrey Pines in San Diego in December, then touching down at Streamsong, Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, Sand Valley, and Pinehurst.
