🏆 Championship Match Recap: Jacob Goode Claims 114th California Amateur Title

With precision, poise, and a champion’s mentality, Jacob Goode dominated the final match of the 114th California Amateur Championship to defeat Evan Liu 8 & 6 at Granite Bay Golf Club. It was one of the most commanding victories in recent tournament memory, and a performance that solidifies Goode’s rising national profile.

The San Francisco native and University of Washington commit wasted no time. He went 1-up through two, then accelerated to 5-up at the turn and 6-up after the morning 18. In the afternoon, Goode remained in complete control, adding a birdie at hole 30 (the 12th of the second 18) to close the match early. He played the 31 holes in 5-under par with just one bogey.

“It feels incredible,” Goode said. “This event has been on my radar for a long time, especially with the U.S. Amateur coming to The Olympic Club. I’m honored to take the trophy there.”

Goode’s run to the title caps off a breakout year. He won the 2024 Silverado Amateur by five shots and finished T7 in 2025 U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Shadow Hills. Coach Alan Murray of the Washington Huskies called Goode “efficient and composed” and praised his leadership potential ahead of his final season in Seattle.

Now, with the state title in hand and a major championship appearance ahead, Goode is quickly becoming one of California’s most compelling amateur talents.
