LIBERTY CORNER, N.J. (July 25, 2025)
The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced the addition of Ethan Fang and Preston Stout to the 2025 USA Walker Cup Team. With their selection, the squad now features five of the ten players who will compete against Great Britain & Ireland at the iconic Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California on Sept. 6–7.
Fang and Stout join Jackson Koivun, Ben James, and Michael La Sasso, who previously earned automatic spots as the top three Americans in the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) as of June 18.
About Ethan Fang
Fang, 20, of Plano, Texas, made history this summer by becoming the first American in 18 years to win The Amateur Championship, capturing the 130th edition at Royal St. George’s. He was a key part of Oklahoma State’s 2025 NCAA Championship run, finishing with a 2-1 record in match play, including a clutch 1-up win in the finals. Fang is a rising junior who transferred from Cal-Berkeley to Oklahoma State in fall 2024.
About Preston Stout
Stout, 21, also a Cowboy at Oklahoma State, recently claimed a dominant eight-shot victory at the 2025 Northeast Amateur. His NCAA match play performance included a 5-and-4 semifinal win over teammate Michael La Sasso and a quarterfinal victory against Jase Summy. A two-time Big 12 individual champion, Stout also reached match play at the past two U.S. Amateurs and finished third at the 2025 NCAA individual championship.
What’s Next
The USGA’s International Team Selection (ITS) group will round out the remaining five roster spots following the 2025 U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club (Aug. 11–17). The Amateur champion and the McCormack Medal recipient—if American—will receive automatic bids.
This year’s match marks the 50th Walker Cup, with the USA seeking to extend its current four-match win streak. Cypress Point, last host in 1981, returns as one of the most revered and visually striking venues in the history of the event.
