PEBBLE BEACH - Michael Weaver and Haley Andreas came from behind to win NCGA Junior Championship titles at Spyglass Hill GC.

Weaver fired a 65 in the final round to claim the title over 14-year-old Michael Decker of Pebble Beach. The soon-to-be freshman at Cal began the day in second place but finished at eight-under-par 208 after posting 71-72-65. In a round that included nine birdies on the notoriously difficult course, Weaver carded only 20 putts over the final 18 holes. "It was one of the best rounds I've ever played," commented the 18-year-old, "I felt like I made everything. I was on fire."

Weaver adds the NCGA Junior Championship to two AJGA tournament victories this summer, the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior and the Trader Joe's Junior Championship at Castlewood. The Fresno resident recently graduated from Clovis West HS where he finished second at the NCGA/CIF State Championship as an individual at Poppy Hills. Weaver joins a long list of PGA Tour and other notable players who have won the title, including Johnny Miller, Ken Venturi, Bobby Clampett and Joel Kriebel.

Haley Andreas of Pacific Grove claimed the Girls' title by a dominating eight strokes over the field, while setting the new championship scoring record in the process. The Pacific Grove HS senior began the day in second place and catapulted herself up the leader board with a final round five-under-par 68. The three-under-par 143 total broke the low 36-hole record of even-par 144 held by Janelle Gomez (2003) and Mariko Tumangan (2008) at Lake Merced GC. Andreas made seven birdies in the final round which included two chip-ins. The 16-year-old recently made it to the round of 32 at the U.S. Junior Girls Championship and finished runner-up at the AJGA Bubba Conlee Championship at Quail Ridge in Tennessee.

Alexandra Sborov of Pleasanton and Paige Lee of Folsom both finished at five-over-par 151 with rounds of 75-76. Sborov nabbed the runner-up spot on the first playoff hole, while Lee took third.

Dylan Smith of San Francisco won the Boys 16-18 flight with 69-69-80, 218. Justin Haley of San Ramon and Foster City's Dalan Refioglu finished at three-over-par 219. Both players fired 75s in the final round. Haley went on to take the runner-up honor after winning the playoff, while Refioglu placed third.

Michael Decker of Pebble Beach fired a 74 to capture the Boys 14-15 division at one-over-par 217, and placed second in the overall standings. Bryson Dechambeau of Clovis took second place at three-over-par 220, while Jonathon Delosreyes of Antioch nabbed third at five-over-par 222.

In the Boys 12-13 flight, Harrison Hsieh of Milpitas won the flight by one stroke after posting a final round six-over-par 78. Hsieh finished at 11-over-par 155 for the tournament. Meanwhile, Owen Lin of San Jose finished in second at 12-over-par 156 after firing a first-round one-over 73 while Danville's Connor Blick took second at 158.

The top 10 boys in the 14-18 age group win performance-based entries into AJGA events, as well as the top three finishers in the girls division. In addition, Michael Weaver gains an exemption into the 2010 CGA State Amateur Championship.
