Wagner Wins Inaugural Silicon Valley Amateur
San Jose, CA (Jan 23, 2005) - Fog delayed play for a second straight day at the Silicon Valley Amateur at Coyote Creek, but players handled the delay like champs and finished with solid rounds in the inaugural 36 hole Championship.

Garrett Wagner, trailing leader Mike Miller by one heading into the final round, fired an even par round of 72 to win the title by 2 over Joe Lanza, who closed with a solid 2-under-par 70, the round of the day on the Valley Course. First round leader, and high school senior Mike Miller shot 79 to finish with a 147 total and 6th place, but he gained crucial experience in holding the first round lead after a wonderful 68 on the Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course.

In the Net Division, Fred Behling won his first amateurgolf.com event with solid putting and 2 chip ins. He shot net rounds of 70 and 65 for a 135 total (9-under par) Bob Thompson kept his perfect 2005 record alive in the Senior Division, and for the second straight tournament he shot 150, and won. Thompson is going to have to shop for a new cabinet for all that crystal if this continues...

Thanks to the enthusiastic staff at Coyote Creek for welcoming us to their great facility for the weekend- we'll no doubt be back!
