Scratch Players Championship
2005 Scratch Players Champion
SEASIDE, CA (August 11, 2005) -- Gonzales came in with the hot hand and parlayed his Western Amateur Medalist and Pacific Coast Amateur Runner Up finishes to victory at the fifth SPC. While a “carnage” of injuries and illnesses befell several of the contestants from 18 states & eight countries just prior and during the tournament, Andres was one of only 3 players to tame the Bayonet beast with a sub-par total starting with a 67 that was only 2 shots off the course record. The 02 AJGA Player of the Year and future UNLV teammate, Seung Su Han of Korea made a charge in the third & final round but came up a shot short. D2 All American, Chris Massoletti of Chico State finished 4 shots back at 287. Andres’ consistent and excellent play this summer should go a long way towards solidifying a leadership position in filling the big shoes of Ryan Moore at UNLV.
