Van Tonder Romps Field at Central Gauteng Open
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (Nov. 21, 2010) -- Donie Van Tonder eagled his final hole to cap off his 8 stroke victory at the Central Gauteng Amateur Open in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Van Tonder trailed Patrick Spindler (65) by a single stroke after his first day score of 66. A 67 on day two would give him the lead he would never relinquish. He would hoist the trophy with a final score of 66-67-70-66--269.
Ruan de Smidt finished second with scores of 68-68-72-69--277 and Graham Van Der Merwe took solo third with scores of 72-67-68-71--278.
