Cameron Smith:
2011 Srixon Australian Men's Stroke Play champion
VICTORIA, Australia (March 20, 2011) --
Queensland’s Cameron Smith birdied the first
play-off hole to defeat England’s David
Coupland and win the Srixon Australian Men’s
Stroke Play Championship at Victoria Golf Club
on Sunday.
Smith, who led after each round, said he was
thrilled with the victory.
“I’m stoked at the moment, I’m lost for words,”
Smith said.
“At the start of the week I definitely wanted
to win both titles and this is the biggest win
for me so far.”
His opponent in the play-off, David Coupland,
shot a superb 7-under par 65 including six
birdies on the front nine to finish at 13-under
par.
“He played awesome golf,” Smith said.
“He just went at every pin, hit it to six feet
every time and holed the putt.”
New Zealand’s Ben Campbell finished in third
place following his 3-under par 69 to be at 9-
under for the championship.
Queensland’s Marika Batibasaga and New
Zealand’s Vaughan McCall finished in a tie for
fourth place, six shots behind Campbell at 3-

Mitch Davis (NSW) finished sixth at 2-under
par.
Chinese Taipei’s Tao Huang and New Zealand’s
Ryan Fox finished in a tie for seventh at 1-

The top 32 men and women now advance to
