SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 19, 2011) -- Junior standout, Casie Cathrea, of Livermore gave her dad a wonderful father's day present with a final round 66 in the 76th playing of the Sacramento Women's Championship. With dad, Harry, on the bag Cathrea had back to back eagles at numbers 11 and 12 on the par 73 Bing Maloney Golf Course. She also carded four birdies and a lone bogey at number 2.
Cathrea started the day four strokes back of first round leader, Daniella Okino of Elk Grove who fired a two-under-par 71 on Saturday. Okino ended the day in second place finishing with a 76 and two day total 147.
Audra Kepler of Pleasant Hill finished in third at 148 posting back-to back 74's. Karen Garcia of Cool was fourth at 150 shooting 74-76.
Cathrea has a busy summer ahead. She just came off a medalist finish at the U.S. Girl's Junior qualifier at Shadow Lakes in Brentwood last week with an even par 72.
As a warm-up to the Girl's Junior Championship in late July, in just a few weeks she will be playing alongside Ben Crenshaw at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
Casie first met Mr. Crenshaw when she was 8-years-old at a golf clinic at Silverado that he put on with Dave Stockton. Recently their paths crossed again while she was on a visit to the University of Texas and she actually got to play two rounds of golf with Mr. Crenshaw. The long hitting Cathrea and the smooth putting Crenshaw will be a team to watch at Pebble.
Full field scores coming soon.
