BRADENTON, Fla. (Jan. 17, 2011) -- Dick Pfeil of Naples, FL started his day ten strokes behind second round leader, Vance Antoniou of North Barrington, IL who opened with 71, 71. Pfeil fired a perfect final round 66 with six birdies and no bogies giving him a five stroke margin of victory.
Pfeil, who began the tournament ranked third in the country just won the Society of Seniors Gateway Invitational with a final round course record 63 and came off a fourth place finish at the Old Corkscrew Invitational. He's sure to move up the rankings after this win.
Kelly Roberts of London, ON and Vance Antoniou finished tied for second at 223. Roberts shot rounds of 73, 77, 73, while Antoniou's final round 81 kept him from winning second place outright.
Second round leader, Ted Smith of Wilkinson, IN cruised to win the super seniors flight by seven strokes. His final round of 70 which included six birdies gave him a tournament total of 217. This is Smith's third win this month. He recently had victories at the Old Corkscrew Invitational and the Gateway Invitational.
Second place went to William Spadafore of Bluffton, SC who shot 224 (75, 78, 71.) There was a tie for third at 225 between Gary Strickfaderi of Southern Pines, NC (77, 72, 76) and Don Valcheff of Nokesville, VA ( 77, 77, 71.)
