Jaye Marie Green
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla (Jan. 20, 2012) -- Prior to yesterday's quarterfinal match at the 80th playing of the Jones/Doherty, Meghan Stasi battled back spasms. With the help of a local doctor who is also a member of Coral Ridge Country Club, Stasi received treatment just minutes before teeing off. The treatment must have done the trick as she was able to defeat defending champion and 2010 Curtis Cup player, Charley Hull, 3 & 2.
Today Stasi met Harriet Beasley of the UK. Commenting on her match, Stasi said, "It was a solid match with five birdies." Stasi beat Beasley 6 & 5. Her back was a little better, but she headed straight to the doctor for more treatment right after her round.
Asked about her match tomorrow against fellow Floridian Jay Marie Green, Stasi said, "I have played in several tournaments with Jaye Marie but never head to head in match play. ...we look forward to a local south Florida final."
Green advanced to the finals with a 2 & 1 victory over Alex Stewart of Carson City, NV.Stewart just came off a 4th place finish at last week's Sally where she finished two strokes ahead of Green. Green was last year's Sally champion.
Anna Schultz of Rockwall, TX defeated Lisa Schlesinger of Laytonsville, MD 2-up to advance to the finals of the senior flight.
Andrea Kraus of Baltimore, MD also advanced to the senior finale with a 2 & 1 victory over Lin McMillan of Palm Coast, FL.
