Robert Funk and Paul Simson winners at the inaugural Crane Cup
PALM CITY, Fla (Jan. 29, 2012) -- Starting his day one stroke off the lead and tied for third, Robert Funk of Canyon Lake, California shot a final round 73 to win the inaugural Crane Cup held at the newly redesigned Floridian Golf Club. Funk edged out Matt Bianchini and John Engler by a single stroke. Funk's three-over-par total of 216 included rounds of 75, 68 and 73.

First round leader Matt Bianchini of Naples, Florida finished at 217 shooting 70, 73 and 74 and tied with second round co-leader John Engler of Augusta, Georgia who shot 75, 67 and 75.

The low round of the day for the Mid-Am flight went to Andrew Lawson of Dallas, Texas who shot a 1-under par 70.

Paul Simson of Raleigh, North Carolina cruised to victory in the senior division by a six stroke margin. Simson, the reigning North & South Senior Champion, finished up at 1-under par 212 with rounds of 72, 69 and 71. Chip Lutz, last year's British Senior Amateur champion from Reading, Pennsylvania took second with a 218 and shot 75, 70, 73.

Duke Delcher of Bluffton, North Carolina took third place with a 219 shooting rounds of 75, 71 and 73.

54-hole scratch stroke play event with Mid-Amateur and Senior Divisions, hosted by the recently redesigned (Tom Fazio) Floridian in Palm City, Florida. Tournament Director Kevin Marsh is a USGA Mid-Amateur champion and has helped attract a strong field of committed players for this invitational tournament.
