Huskies take San Diego Intercollegiate

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (February 14, 2012) -- The University of Washington Huskies claimed their second team title of the year, this time at the San Diego Intercollegiate held at the venerable San Diego Country Club.
The 5th ranked Huskies posted an impressive final round team score of 1-under-par, 287 to cruise to a seven stroke victory over Southern Cal. UCLA was fourteen strokes back and finished solo third. Co-host San Diego State carded the low round of the final day at 3-under-par, 285 and tied for fourth place with Tennnesse, 17 strokes behind the Huskies.
Senior Alex Ching took individual honors by riding an impressive second round 68 that needed to be completed on the final day due to wet weather and darkness. Ching carded rounds of 74-68-72--214, edging out Tennessee’s Garrick Portereous (73-73-69--215).
