Florida Senior Azalea: Chip Lutz leads
Chip Lutz
PALATKA, Fla. (March 9, 2012) -- Defending champion Chip Lutz jumped out to a commanding four-shot lead after Day 1 at the 2012 Florida Senior Azalea at Palatka Golf Club.
Lutz fired a first-round 64 and leads a talented trio of players stuck in second place.
Dick Pfeil, Tom Sykes and Bill Zylstra are all four shots back, hoping to close the gap Saturday in Round 2.
Interestingly enough, 64 is the same number Lutz shot in the final round last year while winning by one shot over Bruce Scamehorn.
Scamehorn five shots back, sitting alone in fifth place after the first round.
Gus Kozina and Ted Smith are tied atop the Super Seniors leaderboard after firing dual 70s Friday.
In the Net Division, Rocky Russell leads by three shots with a first-round 68.
