Semifinals set at North & South Amateur
PNEHURST, N.C. (July 6, 2012) -- The quarterfinals are set at the 2012 North & South Amateur. The number one seed, Peter Williamson advanced through Finley Ewing, IV with a 5 and 4 victory and will face Matt Ewald. Ewald defeated Ben Juffer, 2 and 1.
In the bottom half of the draw, David Erdy will take on Thomas Bradshaw. Erdy, seeded 7th, defeated 15 seed Thomas Sutton, 4 and 3. Bradshaw earned his semi-final spot by beating the three seed, Albin Choi, 2 up.

The North & South Amateur Championship is the
longest consecutively run amateur tournament in
the
United States. Its past winners list includes names
like
Walter
Travis, Francis Ouimet, Billy Joe Patton, Jack
Nicklaus
and Curtis Strange. The field is made up of invited
players as well as open applications. Two rounds of
stroke
play are followed by five rounds of match play
(32
qualifiers) to determine the Champion. All stroke
& match play rounds are contested on
Pinehurst No. 2.
