Robert Morris rolls to Mid-Atlantic Senior title
HAVRE DE GRACE, Maryland (July 17, 2012) -- Robert Morris of Great Falls, VA and Congressional Country Club added the final piece to his collection of the four area major senior titles with a flawless seven-under par second round 65 on the tough 6,555 yards Bulle Rock golf course in Havre de Grace, MD. Coming out of the gate slowly on Monday for the first round, Morris sprinted home on Tuesday with a clean card of one eagle and one birdie on the front nine and four birdies on the back nine. Left in the dust were first round leader Barry Flaer (70-77--147) and past champion Marty West (72-76--148).
Fourth place was shared by veterans James Castagna (78-72--150) and Henry Blue (74-76--150) while Joe Records (80-71--151), defending champion Tim Kelley (78-73--151) and 2010 runner-up Tim Vigotsky (74-77-151) finished tied for sixth place. Former champion Mike Kelly (76-76--152) and perennial contender John Cuomo (76-76--152) split ninth place.
Remarkably, Morris and Flaer were the two low super seniors for age 65 and over players as Morris shot his age.
The 67th Middle Atlantic Senior Amateur will be contested at Musket Ridge Golf Club in Myersville, MD. Further reporting will follow from John Stewart.
