ORLANDO -- Julien Brun knows that his victory at the European Challenge Tour's Allianz Open not only put TCU men's golf "on the map," it also begged one important question: Will he stay a Horned Frog beyond his sophomore season?

Yes, he will. In fact, he intends to stay a full four years at TCU. The victory at the Allianz guaranteed him a spot on the Challenge Tour in 2013.

“I want to keep improving my game,” said Brun, a native of Antibes, France. “And I didn’t come to school just to play golf, I want to get a degree, too.”

No one pushed him one way or the other, everyone, including his family, just wanted what was best for him.

“If I didn’t feel good with my coach and my teammates here at TCU, I would move on, but I feel like I will have an impact on the team,” said Brun. “Hopefully, good things will start to happen to us in the spring.”

“I’m happy at TCU,” he added.

Brun has made a huge impact at TCU, and has only been there for a little more than a year.

During his freshman campaign, Brun won three times, including at his first collegiate tournament. He finished runner-up two times, including at the 2012 NCAA Championship. He was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year, and a PING first-team All-American, making him the third TCU golfer ever to receive this honor and the first freshman. Brun has set multiple records at TCU, including career record for individual wins and a season record for individual victories.

There’s more.

As a sophomore, he won the Carmel Cup, which was again the first tournament of year for TCU, he represented France in the World Amateur Team Championship, where he finished tied for fourth and became the sixth amateur to win on the European Challenge Tour at the Allianz Golf Open, in his home country.

“I felt like I put TCU golf on the map (after my pro victory),” said Brun.

On Sunday, in the first round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, Brun finished with an even-par 72, where he is tied for seventh and the TCU Horned Frogs sit tied for eight.
