Whitsett, Penner lead Western Refining All-American

EL PASO, Texas (Nov. 20, 2012) -- Defending champion Cory Whitsett of Alabama and UNLV's Kevin Penner are tied atop the leaderboard at the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic at El Paso Country Club.
In a star-studded field, Whitsett, the 21st-ranked player in the Golfweek/amateurgolf.com United States Player Rankings, fired rounds of 5-under 66 and 6-under 65 in Rounds 1 and 2, respectively. Penner, ranked No. 48, shot 65 in Round 1 and followed suit with a second-round 66.
The leaders are three shots ahead of Kent State's Corey Conners, who has a pair of 67s to put himself at 8-under through two rounds and Cal's Max Homa (66-68).
Texas A&M's Cameron Peck (67-67, 8-under) and UCLA's Anton Arboleda (70-65, 6-under) are also in the hunt entering Tuesday's final round.
