New Year's Invitational: Toni Hakula takes lead

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2013) -- Toni Hakula fired a second-round 65 and took a one-shot lead after two rounds of play at the 2013 New Year's Invitational tournament at St. Petersburg Country Club.
Hakula managed a first-round 73 but tied for the tournament's low round Friday.
He leads Adam Schenk (72-67--139) and first-round co-leader Lee McCoy (69-70--139) by one shot.
Michael Monroe, M.J. Maguire and Blake Morris, the other first-round leader alongside McCoy, are three shots behind Hakula and in fourth place.
The event features many of the country's top NCAA and upcoming elite amateur golfers.
In the mid-am division, Kenny Cook took the lead from first-round leader Matt Giovannelli thanks to a second-round 70 and enters Saturday's third-round with a one-shot advantage.
Tom Hyland is one shot ahead in the senior division.
