Nat'l Invitational: New Mexico, TCU's Brun win titles

TUCSON, Ariz. (March 17, 2013) -- New Mexico shot a final-round, 9-under 279 to rally for the team title at the Don Puckette National Invitational Tournament March 16-17 at Omni Tucson (Ariz.) National.
The Lobos, who finished at 20-under 844 and are ranked third in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, passed both No. 8 TCU and No. 13 Oklahoma State in the final round to win by a shot over the Horned Frogs (845), eight shots clear of the third-place Cowboys (852). No. 19 Arkansas (855) finished fourth while Texas A&M (859) rounded out the top 5.
TCU's Julien Brun, Golfweek's fourth-ranked individual, won the individual title at 8-under 208. Despite a final-round, 3-over 75, Brun beat Ben Crancer of Texas A&M, who played as an individual, by a shot. It was Brun's third victory of the season, which matches his own school record. It was also his sixth career victory, three more than any other golfer in school history.
Bryson DeChambeau, TCU's Daniel Jennevret, Arkansas' Thomas Sorensen and New Mexico's Victor Perez tied for third at 6-under 210.
