Lutz, Burda lead SOS Senior Masters
Jeff Burda
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (April 17, 2013) -- A pair of big names in the senior amateur world sit atop the leaderboard after two rounds of play at the 2013 Society of Seniors Masters at Indian Wells Golf Resort.
Jeff Burda and Chip Lutz are two shots up on the field entering Thursday's final round. Lutz opened play with a first-round 72 while Burda took the early lead with a 70. His Wednesday 73 paired with Lutz's 71 means two of the most active players on the national and regional senior circuits will do battle in the final round.
Armen Dirtadian (72-73) and Kent Brown (73-72) are tied for third place while Herb Fisher (75-71) and Thomas Studer (71-75) are in fifth.
All told, nine players are within six shots of the leaders entering what is sure to be an interesting final round.
In the Super Senior Division, David Rasley holds a 10-shot lead after a red-hot 64 in Wednesday's second round. He trailed leader John Richart by three after Round 1 but blew by the field and is in good shape to complete an impressive victory.
