Illinois wins 5th straight Big 10 title

Illinois won its fifth consecutive Big Ten Conference Championship on April 28 at French Lick (Ind.) Resort. Illinois shot 11-over 1,163 at the 72-hole championship. The team's 285 total in the third round was tied for the low team score of the tournament.
In second was Minnesota nine shots back of Illinois at 20 over. Iowa was another 14 shots back in third place.
Illinois’ Thomas Pieters and Brian Campbell went 1-2 for the Fighting Ilini. Pieters, a sophomore from Belgium, won the Big Ten individual title by five shots. Pieters shot three consecutive rounds of 70 before finishing with a 74. He finished at 4-under 284.
Also tying for second with Campbell was Minnesota’s Erik Van Rooyen at 1 over.
