Match play set at Havemeyer Invitational

BAY SHORE, N.Y. (May 9, 2013) -- Hal Berman fired a 69 to lead all qualifiers at the 2013 Havemeyer Invitational at Southward Ho Country Club.
With his two-stroke medal round, Berman, who plays out of The Woodmere Club, will be the top seed when match play begins Friday.
Amateurgolf.com member Joe Saladino of Huntington Country Club was second with a qualifying-round 71.
Defending champion Matthew Demeo took the 14th seed in the 16-player match play tournament.
In the Senior Flight, Ron Vaneli took the No. 1 seed after a 71. He was two shots better than Craig Maerki, who'll be the No. 2 seed.

Havemeyer Invitational
Regional event played on Southward Ho, a A.W.
Tilinghast-designed course that was bailed out by
Horace Havemeyer during the Depression era. Since
1951, the Havemeyer Invitational has attracted top
metropolitan region amateur golfers to compete at
Southward Ho in a three day event. 18
hole qualifier establishes match play contestants in
both championship and senior divisions.
