Ariz. Sr. Stroke Play: Coward tops Whitney, Warder
RIO VERDE, Ariz. (May 15, 2013) -- On the strength of his first-round 3-under 69, Mark Coward prevailed at the 2013 Arizona Stroke Play Championship.
Coward's final-round 71 at Tonto Verde Golf Club was just enough to keep pace with a surging Cyrus Whitney, who finished tied for second place alongside Laurie James Warder.
Warder was in second after Round 1, knotted with Jeff New. New struggled with a final-round 74 and finished fifth while Warder shot 72 --- leaving room for Whitney, an amateurgolf.com member and Player Staff participant, to sneak into second place.
