Thad Hudgens wins Lupton Invitational
Thad Hudgens
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (May 26, 2013) -- Thad Hudgens captured the 2013 Lupton Invitational Mid-Amateur Division by holding off two-time defending champion Kris Mikkelsen by one shot.
Hudgens, who took the lead in Round 2 on Saturday, prevailed when Mikkelsen watched a putt that would have tied it and forced a sudden-death playoff slip by the hole.
Paul Simson won the Senior Division in a playoff over defending champion Doug Hanzel. The two were tied after 54 holes of regulation before Simson birdied the second playoff hole to capture his fourth Lupton Senior title.
Don Kuehn took the Super Senior Division, knocking off defending champion Don Marsh.
