offers two 18-hole championship layouts, a state of
the art practice facility referred to as the Golf Center,
two full-service Golf shops, and a full compliment of
services.
Forest Akers Golf Courses are recognized as two of
the best public golf course in Michigan. Golf Digest
has given Forest Akers West Course a four star rating
and the East Course a three star rating. The Detroit
News ranked Forest Akers West Course number six in
the state of Michigan's public courses. And the
Lansing State Journal gave Forest Akers West Course
first place in their Best of the Best rankings for the
past two years.
The West Course was redesigned by Michigan State
alumnus Arthur Hills in 1992. Renovations include
extending the length of the course to over 7,000
yards, new bent grass greens, 18 new bent grass
tees, new rye fairway grass, and all new bunkers.
The East Course was redesigned in 1997 in changing
from par 71 to par 72. Numerous trees and bunkers
were also added. The most extensive improvement
