ESTERO, Fla. (Jan. 7, 2013) -- Ron Carter shot bounced back after a tough opening round to win the 2014 Old Corkscrew Senior Invitational at Old Corkscrew.
Carter, from Indiana, opened with an 83 on Saturday before bouncing back into contention and ultimately the lead with a second-round 69 and a 73 in the final round.
In the end, he finished two shots ahead of Sam Till, who took solo second with rounds of 73-75-79.
Carter and Till battled in a memorable six-hole playoff in 2012 before Carter prevailed. Thanks to a sizzling second-round 69 --- the lowest score of the tournament --- no playoff was needed this year.
Emile Vaughan (77-71-80) placed third while Mike Occi (76-81-84) and Cy Whitney (81-77-75) closed out the top 5.
Jim Rollefson outlasted Berger Warner in the Super Senior Division, using rounds of 77-74-73 to win by two shots. Warner led after a solid 73 in Round 1 before a Sunday 82. He bounced back brilliantly in the final round, shooting 71, but it wasn't enough to catch Rollefson.
Ted Smith (76-78-77), Joe Pavoni (75-78-79) and Jim Kanis (75-83-74) closed out the Top 5, respectively.
Brodie Baker shot rounds of 84-76-80 to win the 16-player Legends Division. He was one shot better than Jeff Belfore.
