Scratch Players Mid-Am: Final Results
MURRIETA, Calif. (March 25, 2007)-- Tucson's Jeremy Defalco made quick work of his first two opponents at the Scratch Players Mid-Amateur Championship, winning 4&3 and 5&4 in the opening rounds of match play, but faced a tougher challenge in the semi-finals when he squared off against Bob Funk, the 2006 Southern California champ, who was playing at his home course, the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrietta.
Defalco was able to squeeze past the top-seeded Funk, 1-up, then carried that momentum into a 3&2 victory over Danny Green in the finals.
Green won the event the last time it was held, in 2005.
Brady Exber was the third member of the final four.
