The Lathrop Cup Goes to the Thornblade Club in a Playoff
PROSPERITY, SC (November 20, 2017) - The team representing the Thornblade Club combined to shoot a total of 223 to win the Lathrop Cup after a one hole sudden death playoff against the team representing The Country Club of Lexington. The Thornblade Club team consisting of Terry Willis, Duff Wagner and Bobby Hines handled the Mid Carolina Club to win the Cup for the first time.
In the Pro-Am portion of the event, Professional Stephen Hartwig led his Country Club of Lexington team to victory with a final score of 133.
The 2017 SCGA Lathrop Cup was played on the par 72 - 6,379 yard Mid Carolina Club in Prosperity, SC. The field consisted of 21 teams playing in both the Lathrop Cup and the Lathrop Cup Pro-Am.
The Lathrop Cup is comprised of three amateurs over the age of 55 from the same club using the aggregate of their three scores to determine the Senior Club Championship of South Carolina. The Pro-Am portion of the event uses the best two balls of the group, including the club professional. The Lathrop Cup is named after long time SCGA Executive Director Happ Lathrop.

The senior version of the SCGA's popular Trescott
Championship, the Lathrop Cup is a team event
comprised of members of the same golf club who
are
the age of 55 years and older. The three senior
amateurs combine their aggregate score from each
hole to compete for the Lathrop Cup.
During the course of play, a Pro-Am is also
conducted with the three amateurs and their Club
Professional (Club professional can be of any age)
using the best two gross balls per hole. The Lathrop
Cup is a great opportunity for members and their
Professional to spend a day together and compete
against other SCGA Member clubs throughout the
State.
