ROCHESTER, NY (June 9, 2018) - Christian Chapman (Victor, NY) won the 91st Country Club of Rochester (CCR) Invitational on Saturday, defeating Matthew Leemann (Milton, GA) 1 up in the championship match.

Chapman, a rising sophomore at the University of Delaware, qualified second with a round of 1-over 71, four shots behind stroke play medalist Jim Scorse (a mid-amateur from Churchville, NY).

The low 16 scores from stroke play advance to the match play stage, and Chapman had to get through four tight matches, all of which went at least 17 holes.

He beat Charles Fitzsimmons 2&1, Daniel Gianniny on the 19th hole, his brother Jack Gianniny 1 up, and finally Leemann 1 up in the final.

Leemann, a rising sophomore at Piedmont College in Georgia, qualified with a 75 which was just one ahead of the cut number. But he was able to knock off the medalist Scorse 2&1 in the quarterfinals and get all the way to the final.

In addition to the match play championship, there was a concurrent member-guest four-ball event, which was won by Paul Sawicki & Vernon Loveless.

Match play invitational with a concurrent member- guest flighted best-ball competition. 18 holes of stroke play qualifying, from which 16 players advance to match play.
